1. First and foremost, YOU are responsible for your own safety. Got it?
2. In the event of an approaching dangerous weather condition, evacuating is the safest option.
3. Familiarize yourself with multiple evacuation routes.
4. Actively monitor weather conditions with Apps available on smart phones.
5. Be prepared to evacuate with your RV if necessary.
6. If you are not able to move your own RV, make arrangements immediately with friends, family or service providers who have the ability to move RVs. Do not wait for the moment of need to find someone capable of moving your RV as this will be “too late”.
7. If you do not intend to move your RV then consider using anchors or tie downs to secure your RV in place and then evacuate with personal items as necessary. This option is not the best, evacuating out of harm’s way with your RV and all your possessions is always the best option. Contact management for location of underground utilities prior to placing any anchors in the ground. Do not wait until the moment of need to anchor your RV rig as this will be “too late”.
8. “BUG-OUT” BAG A Bug-out bag refers to a duffle bag, backpack or tote that’s easy to grab and take with you at a moment’s notice. A bug-out bag’s contents are those items that you need on an immediate and ongoing basis such as medications, prescriptions, personal valuables, purse, or wallet, change of clothing and so on.
9.INDIVIDUAL/FAMILY EMERGENCY PLAN EXAMPLE
a. Have someone outside the area of the emergency that is designated to help.
b. Have a weather app on your phone that monitors incoming weather in real time.
c. Have an agreed upon plan between your family or friends where or how you’ll meet up.
d. Know the various evacuation routes in the event you must choose one.
e. Have a portable kennel available if you have pets
10. Plan ahead and be ready, anything less is a recipe for personal disaster.
11. Be advised that during a weather emergency Park management will not be available as we ourselves will be evacuating for safety reasons.
